Has it ever happened to you that you dislike a particular word? It happens quite a lot with me and one of those word - or rather terms - which really itch me is "Human Resources". It sounds as if people were some sort of natural or acquired resources, one that is easily substitutable.

 

Why do we have to call the department that takes care of recruitment and personnel relations the HR department? why don't we simple call it the People's Department or the Talent Department?

 

Abakus Solutions being a service company, people and their talent is core to our business and to the very texture of how we do things. For this reason I like to call all the people working at Abakus as 'Talent'.

 

This means that the 'Human Resources' function within Abakus is referred to the 'Talent' or 'People's' function. We make sure that we do not forget what is important for the company, even though sometimes it is difficult to forget with all the commotion in the development area!
